“Dusit Zoo” was originally a botanical garden called "Khao Din Wana”. It was established in 1895. At first the garden was part of the palace used for the private enjoyment of the royal family and palace staff. Later, it was expanded and improved for the enjoyment of the general public. In 1983, "Khao Din Wana" was renovated and transformed into the zoo by transferring various animals such as; crocodiles and monkeys from SuanSaranrom. Finally, the name of "Khao Din Wana" has been changed to "Dusit Zoo" and was open to public since then.
