การเปรียบเทียบ (1)

ในภาษาอังกฤษนั้นมีการเปรียบเทียบ 3 แบบ ทั้งการเปรียบเทียบแบบเท่ากัน แบบขั้นกว่า และขั้นสูงสุด

เทคนิค:

รูปแบบที่ใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบนั้นขึ้นอยู่กับจำนวนพยางค์ของคำนั้น ให้จำกฏของการเปลี่ยนรูปโดยอย่าลืมแยกประเภทของคำ ว่าเป็น adjective หรือ adverb

1) เปรียบเทียบแบบเท่ากัน

ใช้ as _____ as

ตัวอย่าง adjective:

Our boss is as friendly as yours.

ตัวอย่าง adverb:

He works as efficiently as you.

2) เปรียบเทียบแบบขั้นกว่า

- adjective และ adverb พยางค์เดียวส่วนใหญ่ให้เติม –er ได้เลย
- adjective 2 พยางค์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม -er
- adjective 2 พยางค์อื่นๆ ให้ใช้เพิ่มแค่ more นำหน้าคำเดิม
- adverb ที่มี 2 พยางค์หรือมากกว่า โดยทั่วไปให้เพิ่มแค่ more นำหน้าคำเดิม
- adjective ที่มี 3 พยางค์หรือมากกว่านั้น ต้องเพิ่ม more นำหน้าคำเดิม

This fax machine is newer than that one.

The manager wants to be more popular than the previous one.

We finished our project faster than they finished theirs.

He understands the course more easily than her.

จะสังเกตว่าโดยทั่วไปเราจะมี than ตามหลังคำที่มีรูปเปรียบเทียบขั้นกว่าเสมอ

Note: อย่าใช้การเปลี่ยนรูปทั้ง 2 แบบร่วมกัน

ผิด: She gets lots of benefits because she's been here more longer.

ถูก: She gets lots of benefits because she's been here longer.

ผิด: He works more quicklier than us.

ถูก: He works more quickly than us.

3) เปรียบเทียบแบบขั้นสูงสุด

- adjective และ adverb พยางค์เดียวส่วนใหญ่เติม –est ได้เลย
- adjective 2 พยางค์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น i แล้วเติม -est
- adjective 2 พยางค์อื่นๆ ต้องใช้ most นำหน้าทั้งสิ้น
- adverb 2 พยางค์ส่วนใหญ่ให้ใช้ most นำหน้า
- adjective 3 พยางค์หรือมากกว่าทั้งหมดต้องใช้ most นำหน้า

จะสังเกตว่าโดยทั่วไปเราจะมี the นำหน้าคำที่มีรูปเปรียบเทียบขั้นสูงสุดเสมอ

Note: อย่าใช้การเปลี่ยนรูปทั้ง 2 แบบร่วมกัน

ผิด: He was the most wisest man I ever knew.

ถูก: He was the wisest man I ever knew.

ผิด: She types the most fastest out of all the secretaries.

ถูก: She types the fastest out of all the secretaries.

การเปรียบเทียบยังมีข้อยกเว้นอีกบางประการ เช่น มีบางคำที่เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็นรูปเปรียบเทียบแล้วจะมีรูปแบบที่ต่างออกไป หรือ คำบางคำอาจไม่มีรูปเปรียบเทียบ เราจะมาดูรายละเอียดข้อยกเว้นเหล่านี้ พร้อมทั้งตัวอย่างข้อสอบในตอนต่อไป
