ภาษาอังกฤษ ม. 5 คำนามนับได้และคำนามนับไม่ได้

คำนาม (Noun) คือ คำที่ใช้เรียกแทนคน สัตว์ สิ่งของ ซึ่งคำนามเหล่านี้สามารถแบ่งออกได้ 2 ประเภท คือ คำนามนับได้ (Countable Noun) และคำนามนับไม่ได้ (Uncountable Noun)

คำนามนับได้ (Countable Noun)

คำนามนับได้ (Countable Noun) เป็นคำนามที่สามารถนับจำนวนได้ ซึ่งคำนามนับได้นี้มี 2 รูป คือ เอกพจน์และพหูพจน์


คำนามรูปเอกพจน์จะมี a/an นำหน้า โดย

a ใช้กับคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงพยัญชนะ เช่น a book, a pencil, a cat, a table, a knife, a university เป็นต้น

an ใช้กับคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงสระ a, e, i, o, u เช่น an umbrella, an apple, an owl, an umbrella เป็นต้น

ตัวอย่าง

Liam buys a pen for his dad’s birthday.
(เลียมซื้อปากกาสำหรับวันเกิดของพ่อของเขา)

My mom asked me to help her carry a new table from a car to the kitchen.
(แม่บอกฉันให้ช่วยยกโต๊ะใหม่จากรถไปที่ครัว)


คำนามรูปพหูพจน์เติม s, es ท้ายคำนามนั้น ๆ เช่น bananas, keys, languages, pictures เป็นต้น

ตัวอย่าง

Tommy has two cars in the garage.
(ทอมมี่มีรถยนตร์ 2 คนในโรงรถ)

Chris told me to bring ten glasses for the party.
(คริสต์บอกฉันให้นำแก้วมาสิบใบสำหรับปาร์ตี้)


นอกจากนี้ยังมีคำนามพหูพจน์ผิดปกติ (Irregular Plurals) ดังนี

คำนามพหูพจน์ที่มีรูปมีวิธีผันโดยเปลี่ยนรูปไปเลย เช่น

คำนามพหูพจน์ที่ไม่มีการเปลี่ยนรูปจากเอกพจน์เป็นพหูพจน์ เช่น

Buffalo            Buffalo      (กระบือ)

Deer               Deer         (กวาง)

คำนามนับไม่ได้ (Uncountable Noun)

คำนามนับไม่ได้ (Uncountable Noun) เป็นคำนามที่ไม่สามารถนับได้โดยใช้เลขบอกจำนวน เช่น rice, sugar, money, water เป็นต้น

การบอกจำนวนของคำนามนับไม่ได้ สามารถบอกได้ในรูปของภาชนะที่ใช้เก็บสิ่งนั้น เช่น a cup of coffee, a bag of sugar, a bottle of Coke, a bowl of cereal เป็นต้น หรือใช้ some, any นำหน้าคำนามนับไม่ได้
