การทำคำคุณศัพท์ให้เป็นขั้นกว่า และขั้นที่สุด
ให้จำง่ายๆข้อแรกก่อนเลยคือ เติม -er ในขั้นกว่า และ the – est สำหรับขั้นที่สุด เช่น

กฎการเติม -er และ -est
- คำที่มีสระเสียงสั้นตัวเดียว และตัวสะกดตัวเดียว ถ้าคุณสมบัติครบสองข้อนี้ ให้เติมตัวสะกดอีกตัวเข้าไป แล้วเติม -er -est เช่น
