Connective (คำเชื่อม)

หน้าที่ของ Connective (คำเชื่อม) คือ การเชื่อมประโยค หรือ เชื่อมคำ เข้าด้วยกัน เพื่อให้ประโยคมีใจความสมบูรณ์มากยิ่งขึ้น

"And" หมายถึง "และ" ใช้เมื่อเชื่อมประโยค หรือคำ ที่มีความหมายเป็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน หรือมีความหมายเหมือนกัน

เช่น       Winnie is intelligent and diligent.

            She is poor and lazy.

"But" หมายถึง "แต่" ใช้เมื่อเชื่อมประโยค หรือคำ ที่มีความหมายในเชิงขัดแย้งกัน หรือไม่เป็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน

เช่น       He is intelligent but he is not deligent.

            She play game but I read a book.

"Because" หมายถึง "เพราะว่า" ใช้เมื่อเชื่อมประโยค หรือคำ เพื่อแสดงสาเหตุ หรืออธิบายเหตุผลกัน

เช่น       He is exhausted because he studies hard.

            We will not go out because it is raining outside.

"So" หมายถึง "ดังนั้น" ใช้เมื่อต้องการเชื่อมเพื่อบอกผลที่เกิดขึ้น

เช่น        I have stomachache so I go to bed.

             She studies hard so she passes the exam. 

"or" หมายถึง "หรือ" ใช้เมื่อต้องการเชื่อมประโยคเพื่อเลือกสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง

เช่น       Do you want coffee or tea?

            Do you want to go to school or museum?

ข้อควรระวัง  เมื่อต้องการบอกปฏิเสธของทั้ง 2 สิ่ง เราจะใช้ "or" แทน "and"

เช่น       I don't want orange or apple.      /

            I don't want orange and apple.   x
