- Would จะตามด้วย bare Infinitive (Infinitive without to) หรือ คำกริยาช่อง 1 โดยไม่ต้องมี to เช่น
I’d like some tea.
(ฉันอยากได้ชา)
It’d be nice if you helped me do the homework.
(มันจะดีนะ ถ้าเธอช่วยฉันทำการบ้าน)
- Would สามารถตามด้วย perfect infinitive (have + past participle (V.3)) ได้ด้วย เช่น
He’d have passed the exams, if he had studied harder.
(เขาจะสอบผ่านถ้าเขาขยันมากกว่านี้)
If I had been in town, I’d have gone to your birthday party.
(ถ้าฉันอยู่ในเมือง ฉันจะไปปาร์ตี้วันเกิดของคุณ)
ข้อควรจำ : ’d rather…. หมายถึง ’d = would ให้ความหมายว่า อยาก....มากกว่า เช่น I’d rather walk than cycle. (ฉันอยากเดินมากกว่าขี่จักรยาน)
had จะตามด้วย past participle เช่น
I felt good because I had finished my homework.
(ฉันอารมณ์ดี เพราะฉันทำการบ้านเสร็จแล้ว)
He had been to London before he was fifteen.
(เขาไปลอนดอนก่อนที่จะอายุ 15 ปี)
ข้อควรจำ : ’d better do something หมายถึง ’d = had ให้ความหมายว่า ทำ....จะดีกว่า เช่น I’d better get back to work. (ฉันกลับไปทำงานจะดีกว่า)
